Folding | Continuous Ribbon | Intimate Spaces

An exhibition gallery designed through the concept of spatial tessellation.
A ribbon of repeated but joined triangular shapes unfolds throughout the site creating intricate but unique simple spaces. These spaces not only function as exhibition rooms, but they are for the individuals to appreciate and unwind while looking at the beautiful scenery of Teshima Island.
Inspired by the form + construction of Japanese origami.

As each shape unfolds, intricate spaces embrace the site. Each nook offers a unique experience, whether is showcasing art or a view towards the island. The museum negates the use of air-conditioners to provide a wholesome connection between art and nature.
